An Introduction

A warm afternoon sun hung in a clear blue sky. The Lightbringer lay stretched out beneath a large tree adjacent to a popular trail within the greater Asguard wilderness. A cool breeze gently kissed him on his cheek. Birds sang amongst the rustling leaves serenading Lord God Almighty with peaceful energies. Squirrels & chipmunks scampered about and played while brown bunnies grazed in a grassy patch not far from where he rested.

It’s not often that I have an opportunity to ground like this these days.

A butterfly with vibrant fuchsia wings fluttered closer towards him. Lucifer remained still and watched the creature approach. The gorgeous insect softly landed on his arm and gently batted its colorful wings. He smiled peacefully then shut his eyes to rest.

Rattling noises from nearby bushes could be heard then rose in volume. The Lightbringer cracked an eye open and turned his head towards the growing clatter.

A beautiful kitsune maiden tumbled out from her hiding spot and squealed loudly. Her light brown fox ears pressed down & back with surprise. Fetching white hair gracefully flowed passed her shoulders. Her light brown tail twitched with irritation from her turmoil. Her sparkling white lingerie dress had snagged amongst twigs & branches. Her tightly closed eyes opened wide revealing their mismatched color to the world. Her buttoned nose wiggled before she blew a lock of her radiant hair from her face.

The maiden made eye contact with her unsuspecting target. Her face grew bright red with embarrassment. A smirk appeared on Lucifer’s face before he released a light snort of silent laughter. The butterfly that sat upon his arm took to the air once more and fluttered towards a patch of wild flowers. The kitsune looked around anxiously as she tugged her negligee from shrub branches. The Lightbringer sat up slightly and leaned on one of this elbows.

“Would you like some help with that?”

Her eyes grew wide with surprise. “Oh! N-no…you don’t need to bother. I can handle this. I didn’t mean to trouble you…”

Lucifer dropped his head slightly and chortled to himself before looking back at her. “What were you doing in that bush?”

The rose in her cheeks turned darker. “Oh! Um…I…uh…I was…um…watching…you…”

“You mean you were spying on me?”

Her expression became worried. “No...No, no, no! Nothing like that at all! I just…uh…I’ve…never...seen anything like you before…so you…um…caught my…interest. That’s all! I promise!”

He nodded back somewhat reassuring. “Okay. If you promise.”

The fox girl gently pulled her slip dress from the branches then slowly approached.

“What are you?”

The Lightbringer looked at her plainly. “Divine.”

“Divine?”

“Já.

She looked at him inquisitively. “What is, Divine?”

He slowly blinked at her. “Me."

The kitsune maiden looked at him with amusement & giggled before she approached closer. She sat down beside him & tilted her head slightly. She gazed into his luminous eyes with a gentle smile. The Lightbringer returned the gesture while remaining in a neutral state.

The maiden slightly jostled in place then nudged her head in his direction. “What is this place called?”

“Asguard.”

“Asguard?”

Lucifer nodded his head slightly. “Já. It’s one of the newly cleansed Norse realms.”

“It’s beautiful here.”

He smiled lightly. “I’m glad you think so. I’ve worked incredibly hard to make this realm a wonderful place to live. Especially after the stories I heard regarding hunters here.”

“What happened to them?”

“They no longer exist.”

“Why?”

“Because of me and the Valkyrie.”

“What is Valkyrie?”

“Put plainly…Goddesses of Goodness. They protect spirits like yours."

Her head cocked in the opposite direction. “Spirits like me?"

He nodded softly. “Já. You’re a fox girl…are you not?”

The kitsune nodded her head lightly.

Lucifer smiled with a sleepy peacefulness. “Já, I know fox spirits like you. I have a wife that’s like you.”

Her head piqued with interest. “You do?”

The Lightbringer nodded. “Yup. I have three kits with her too.”

The fox girl tilted her head more. She leaned in closer & inspected the Lightbringer. The glimpse of a silver fox nose appeared on his face then vanished with a blink.

Her eyes widened with delight. “You’re like me!”

Lucifer snickered softly. “You could say that, já. I’m that and far more, I’ll have you know. Just like you now.”

“Just like me?”

“Já. Have you seen yourself lately?”

A reflection of the kitsune appeared before her eyes. She had never seen herself as a human when drinking from the creek. Nor had she witnessed sacred majik such as his.

She looked at him with amazement. “When did this happen?”

The Lightbringer laughed heartily and rubbed his face. “When you fell out of that bush just now.

“Really?”

He nodded back with a large grin. “Já. You took me by surprise too."

She beamed at him & giggled with delight. “When did you get here?”

He took a deep breath then sighed peacefully.

“Just a moment ago. I rarely get to ground like this in Asguard wilderness so I wanted to enjoy myself.”

“What does that mean? Ground like this?”

“It relates to being in tune with my personal energy & its interaction with elemental forces. I’m ‘harmonizing with nature’ you could say. That’s why we’re speaking like this now.”

“Would you mind speaking with me for a little while longer? I’d like to ask you some questions if that’s alright.”

He smiled back softly. “I don’t mind. I enjoy conversations with nature. Just like the one we're having now.”

“You see me as nature?”

“You are nature. As am I.”

“What are you doing here?”

“Protecting this place from harm.”

“Protecting this place from harm?”

He nodded lightly. “Am I doing alright?”

She smiled bright again. “I would say you certainly are!”

Lucifer bowed his head with respect & smiled with gratitude.

“I appreciate your vote of confidence. I try to do my best."

The kitsune giggled with delight & nudged closer to her new acquaintance.

“Why did you decide to come here?”

He looked out at a wide patch of grassland & smiled.

“I love being close to nature like this. It’s so...pleasant…I cannot properly put it into words.”

“Where did you come from?”

“Midgard.”

Her head dropped with caution. “The realm of men…"

“Já, but I’m originally from Alfheim. That place has been cleansed like here.”

“I’ve never been there before.”

“It’s a lovely realm. You should go sometime now that you’ve consciously evolved. You’d love it there as a kitsune.”

The maiden smiled wide with excitement & wonder.  “Truly?”

He nodded back in affirmation with a large smile.

“What about the realm of men? What did you do there?”

“It’s coming to an end as we speak. I stopped trying to rush things in my lower form and have been flowing with Source for a while now so things should pick up more speed soon. It’ll be cleansed like here and then innocent Cetra souls shall be allowed to reside there once more.”

“I’m looking forward to visiting there as well,” she said, with a warm smile.

Lucifer returned the gesture.

“You’ll love that place too, especially Vaskgramr. A world tree like that is right up a vixen like yours alley, especially when you can have your own private burrow as a residence. There’s incredibly elegant gold & crystal Dökkálfar decorum throughout the entire tree, inside and out. There are also no shortages of shops that deal with all sorts of majikal elements.”

The kitsune’s eyes lit up with delight at his suggestion. “Really?”

He nodded back with confidence. “Absolutely.”

The maiden squirmed in her place & squealed with excitement. Lucifer laughed softly at her enthusiastic behavior then slowly began to stand.

“I’ve had a lovely time speaking with you but I must be going now. Duty calls."

The fox girl shot up quick to see the monstrous man off properly.

“Am I ever going to see you again?”

A portal opened behind the Lightbringer. Lucifer looked over his shoulder then back at the kitsune maiden. He smiled at her & nodded.

“Absolutely, if you choose so. That fate is for you to decide.”

She smiled back at him with an expression of unspoken gratitude. The Lightbringer shot her a chivalrous smirk & nodded his head.

“See you soon, Losse.”

The kitsune’s face grew bright red. She bit her lip with delight at his charming behavior. Losse raised a hand slowly and crunched her fingers bidding him farewell. Lucifer smiled warmly then turned around to enter his portal. His hand flicked in the air waving goodbye with his ring & pinkie fingers tucked in place.

The Lightbringer slowly vanished into thin air. The kitsune maiden walked towards the location where Lucifer had been resting and sat down in the center. She smiled at the clear blue skies and reflected on her newfound identity.
